Dear Ms Bury,

EU Green Paper on the Interconnection of Business Registers

I write to you in my capacity as Chairman of the Company Law Committee of the Law Society of
England and Wales.

The Law Society of England and Wales is the representative body of over 120,000 solicitors in
England and Wales. The Society negotiates on behalf of the profession and makes
representations to regulators and Government in both the domestic and European arena. This
letter has been prepared on behalf of the Committee which is made up of senior and specialist
corporate lawyers.

The Committee has considered the UK Government response to the EU Green Paper COM(2009)
614 on the Interconnection of Business Registers (as submitted by the Department for Business,
Innovation and Skills) and endorses the views contained in that response.

The Committee also expresses its willingness to contribute to any future discussions on the
development of the EBR.

Should you require any further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Ufland
Chairman
Company Law Committee
